Philippe Lagassé

I am an associate professor and William and Jeanie Barton Chair at the Norman Paterson School of International Affairs, Carleton University. My current research examines executive power and legislative-executive relations in Westminster states, with a particular focus on foreign and defence affairs. I also research the Crown in the Canadian Constitution.

My writing on the Westminster system has been published in Parliamentary Affairs, The Round Table: The Commonwealth Journal of International Affairs, Canadian Public Administration, Journal of Commonwealth Law, Canadian Parliamentary Review, Review of Constitutional Studies, Constitutional Forum, Supreme Court Law Review, Queen’s Law Journal, and Public Law. I have also co-edited three volume on the Crown, including The Crown and Parliament. I have testified and submitted evidence on Westminster constitutionalism before parliamentary committees in Canada, the United Kingdom, and Australia.
